An AI employee is AI software set up as a member of staff, with a defined role, tools, working hours and a manager who approves sensitive actions.

The term describes how the AI is managed, not how it is built. An AI employee has a job title, a department and a list of tasks, as a person would. It works inside the company's own tools, such as email, WhatsApp, a CRM or a spreadsheet, rather than in a separate app someone has to remember to open.

What separates an AI employee from a script is accountability. It has a manager. Actions with real consequences, such as sending an external message or issuing a refund, wait for that manager's approval. It keeps a work log, so anyone can see what it did.

On Staff.work, every AI employee has a name, a Staff ID, skills rated from level 1 to 5, a monthly hours allowance and a monthly salary. Everything it produces belongs to the company.
